Associate Lawyer

Blumberg Segal LLP or Blumbergs is a law firm in Toronto that focuses on charity and non-profit law. We are seeking an associate lawyer to join our firm. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drafting corporate documents for incorporations, amendments, continuances and amalgamations for non-profits and charities
- Preparing charity applications with the CRA
- Drafting and reviewing corporate resolutions, by-laws, policies and contracts
- Providing advice to non-profits and charities on corporate governance, by-laws, regulatory compliance and regulatory filings
- Conducting legal research and drafting legal memoranda on charity and non-profit law issues such as fundraising, receipting, foreign activities, related business activities and transparency
- Assisting with informal risk reviews of clients
- Helping with educational programming and online courses as well as social media, blogs for non-profits and charities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience and/or interest in charities and non-profits
- Knowledge of charity law and non-profit corporate law would be an asset
- LLB/J.D. member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario and licensed to practice law in Ontario
- Organized with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Adept at use of technology and prepared to work remotely
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Ability to work well in a team environment and independently
