In Saskatchewan, there is coverage of a court case and a charity called The Lighthouse Supported Living Inc. This coverage raises a number of issues for charities including conflicts of interest and perceived conflicts of interest, the separation between charities and individuals/businesses, transparency, internal controls as well as governance and decision-making. Many charities can use this particular example as education for their own organizations around mistakes made in running a charity and how one day a charity can be the focus of media attention.
The public would not even be aware that there was a problem unless a consortium of journalists had not argued that a publication ban should be lifted.
