As part of CRA’s online services for registered charities through the MyBA system, CRA had previously added an online progress tracker feature for certain online submissions. This feature was mostly inactive last year, but with the new year, it appears that CRA is working on using this feature more. Applicants for charitable status can now see CRA’s progress and target response date for completing the review of the application through the online system. Previously, applicants had to call CRA to get any updates. This progress tracker also works for T3010 filings done through the MyBA system.
As CRA continues to add features and improvements to the MyBA system, we encourage registered charities to get onto this new system. The online system is great for charities looking to file their annual T3010 filings, as it helps ensure that the filing is received by CRA on-time. With the new progress tracker, charities can also get confirmation that the filing was received by CRA. All registered charities are required to file a complete and accurate T3010 on time each year. Failure to do so could result in revocation.
