We recently wrote to the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement to ask them why for example articles of amendments with no problems were taking about 3 months to be returned after they were filed.
The Ministry responded on Valentines Day with:
We are currently experiencing a high volume of filings, which were submitted in the Fall. As you know, not-for-profit corporations that were previously governed by the Corporations Act were under a three-year transition period from the date the Ontario Not-for-profit Corporations Act, 2010 (ONCA) came into force, to make any necessary changes to provisions in their governing documents to bring them into conformity with ONCA. We are actively working on these filings and are currently making significant progress and taking measures to address these important client requests.
They also noted that in some cases with urgent filings, they may be able to expedite the response.
I asked and am hoping for a reply to my question about how many non-profits are in the queue and how long do they anticipate it will take to eliminate the backlog.
