Recently, the Ne’eman Foundation was revoked by CRA for a number of reasons.   The Neeman Foundation announced immediately after its revocation that another charity, The Emunim Fund, was taking over the donors and programs.   The Emunim Fund was incorporated on April 18, 2023, as Maison Yeshaya 5756.  Maison Yeshaya 5756 received its charitable status on April 18, 2024 and changed its name to The Emunim Fund on July 31, 2024.  As of September 26, 2024, The Emunim Fund has been suspended by the CRA, which means that it cannot issue official donation receipts, but also cannot accept gifts from other Canadian charities.   This suspension will be for one year.

I have never seen in my career such swift action from CRA in dealing with concerns about non-compliance.

Certain privileges of a registered charity, registered Canadian amateur athletic association, or other qualified donee have been temporarily taken away because it failed to comply with specific provisions of the Income Tax Act. Although a suspended organization may continue to operate while its privileges are suspended, it is not considered a qualified donee during that time, it cannot issue official donation receipts, and it must inform a donor of its suspension before accepting a gift.
