The Ontario Business Registry (OBR) allows Ontario and other non-profit corporations to do searches and filings in Ontario

The Ontario Business Registry (OBR), introduced in 2019, moved Ontario from a microfiche-based corporate system to a modern database system.  Admittedly, the initial rollout was not great, and there have been many improvements to the system.  There are many more improvements that can be made. A comparison with the Federal Online Filing Centre and the Federal government’s CNCA corporation database reveals that it is decades behind, particularly in terms of transparency.

That being said, here are some examples of documents that can be filed using the Ontario Business Registry (OBR).

Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010 (NFPCA or ONCA)

Corporations Information Act (CIA)

Business Names Act (BNA)
