The Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (“ONCA”) – options for dealing with this important corporate change – recorded webinar

This week, I did a webinar for the Canadian Charity Law Association on The Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (“ONCA”) – options for dealing with this important corporate change. While we usually don’t record and provide recordings of these events, here is a free recording of the webinar that will be available for a short period of time.

The Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (“ONCA”) – options for dealing with this important corporate change

ONCA was finally brought into force on October 19, 2021. It applies to all non-share capital corporations that were previously under the Ontario Corporations Act (“OCA”) and are now under ONCA. What should your ONCA corporation do? There are a number of options, and we will discuss them in this webinar, including making changes to bring your non-profit into compliance with ONCA and another viable option for an Ontario non-profit corporation is to transfer to the federal jurisdiction by continuing under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act (“CNCA”).

This webinar is presented by Mark Blumberg, a lawyer at the law firm Blumbergs Professional Corporation in Toronto, who works almost exclusively with Canadian non-profits and registered charities on compliance issues. Mark is also the editor of www.CanadianCharityLaw.ca – a Canadian charity law website dedicated to news about the Canadian charitable sector and legal and ethical issues for Canadian charities operating in Canada or abroad.
