There have been numerous improvements to the OBR since it came into being in October 2019. Here is a notice from the Ontario government about further changes:
The Ontario Business Registry (OBR) online service will be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled system maintenance on Sunday, March 3, 2024, from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm.
The Ministry is implementing multiple enhancements to the OBR Partner Portal to enrich your experience and improve system performance. These modifications are designed to strengthen user comprehension, facilitate the completion of transactions, and increase accuracy for reviews and approvals.
The updates are as follows:
Canadian addresses will utilize Postal Canada Lookup to pre-populate specific fields such as: Street number, Street name, Province, Country, and Postal code based on the postal code entered.
· New optional address fields have also been added: Attention/care of, Unit type, Street number suffix, and Street direction. The following transactions have changed from single page to wizard design and include a review page which allows full text to be displayed when a PDF is generated for review and authorization:
· Articles of Amendment (BCA) · Articles of Amendment (NFPCA)
· Restated Articles of Incorporation (NFPCA)
Legacy entities which displayed a “November 11, 1111” date in the output documents and display screens will now be replaced with “Not Provided“.
Power of attorney for an Extra-Provincial Limited Partnership will remain visible upon expiration, renewal, or cancellation. Allowing for easy renewal or ordering of a profile report.
To improve performance for the Partner Portal dashboard, sort feature on “Name” and “Number” on the “Clients and Entitles” tab will no longer be available. Instead, entities you have authority over will remain on the “Clients and Entitles” tab and may be easily filtered by using the search bar located at the top right corner.
