On December 30, 2024, Finance announced a proposal to extend the period for claiming donations in 2024 to February 28, 2025. Few details were provided, and almost immediately, there were many questions and concerns raised about this proposal from donors and charities. Subsequently, there has been a proroguing of parliament and the resignation of the Prime Minister. Donors and charities have many questions about this initiative, and we will try to answer as best we can with the limited information that is so far available.
