Ritual and Retention: Shaping the Future of Work in the Non-Profit Sector

September 13, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Webinar

It is the question everyone is asking: how much of what is happening right now will change the world of work, forever? Too often, we focus on what is being lost. Let’s ask a better question. What opportunities are there, in this unique moment in time, to gain something new for our teams and for ourselves?

Careers in the non-profit and charitable sectors can offer meaningful work where people can live their values and make a real difference. Post-pandemic, more and more people are seeking a different balance.

We’ve heard from passionate Executive Directors and managers who want to be recognized as leaders of great workplaces but don’t know how to do it without offering more money, investing in time-intensive training programs or offering promotions.

Workplace ritual is one overlooked place to start. Now more than ever, people want to be appreciated and remain relevant. They want connection. Our communal need for the warmth of ritual has been rekindled. Let’s use it as we shape the Future of Work by:

  • Identifying social rituals that can enhance workplace culture and employee wellness
  • Experimenting with hands-on examples of social ritual to build connection
  • Reflecting on your career ownership as a non-profit leader and professional
  • Learning how career management can future-proof your relationships with your team
  • Recognizing why leaders in non-profits and charities need to take an active role in shaping the Future of Work, starting today

This webinar will be presented by Lisa Taylor. As President of Challenge Factory and the Centre for Career Innovation, Lisa offers a fresh perspective on the Future of Work and how demographics, the freelance economy and new market dynamics present opportunities to gain strategic advantage.

Lisa is the author of “Retain and Gain: Career Management for Small Business” and “Retain and Gain: Career Management for Non-Profits and Charities,” two sector-specific playbooks choc full of low-cost and no-cost activities for managers. Her third book, the Talent Revolution: Longevity and the Future of Work will be published by University of Toronto Press (Rotman Imprint) in 2019.

With an MBA in Strategic Management and Public Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University, Lisa held progressive roles at Deloitte and Hewlett-Packard. In 2014, Lisa was recognized by the Urban Land Institute as one of Canada’s Top 100 Women for her work in the areas of leadership, employment and city building.
