There are about 47,000 federal non-profit corporations under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act (“CNCA”). About 25% of them are registered charities and the rest are not registered charities.

This course will focus on the corporate aspects of having a non-profit under the CNCA. This will be applicable to both non-profits and registered charities, but it will not cover the Income Tax Act (Canada) regulatory requirements for either non-profits or registered charities.

This course covers:

  • Background on the CNCA
  • Governing Documents
  • Organizing Documents

  • CNCA Filing Obligations
  • AGMs
