This webinar will be presented by Mark Sidel. Mark Sidel is Doyle-Bascom Professor of Law and Public Affairs, University of Wisconsin-Madison and Vice Chair, International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL). He is a longtime specialist in the regulation of philanthropy and nonprofits in the US and in Asia, particularly China, India and Vietnam.

Prof. Sidel will discuss the new US administration’s policy and regulatory moves against the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors in such areas as reduced funding and a variety of proposals and potential moves to change the requirements and conditions for tax exemption; foreign funding outbound from the US; taxation of endowments; prohibition of diversity and equity work in the nonprofit sector and investigations of groups based on DEI activity, as well as the potential targeting of certain foundations and nonprofits.
